It all started with the Hide Puffer Jacket – if you have an Instagram account, chances are you’ve seen it on your favorite influencers or street style shots during NYFW. The beautifully crafted vegan leather puffer quickly became one of the most coveted items of the year, and got the fashion world paying serious attention to Nanushka, and wondering what they had in store next.
Now that Fashion Month has drawn to a close, the fashion world takes a collective sigh…after seeing our favorite designers forecasting new trends that won’t hit stores until Fall 2019, we come back to living in our present reality. There is Spring Cleaning to do at home, and in store we are getting exciting new deliveries in for Spring 2019 – it is finally time to “Buy Now, Wear Now”.
It became official at the Spring 2019 shows during fashion month in September that the high fashion world had adopted tie dye as couture; Moving on from “sleazecore”- the ironic, goofy, sloppy aesthetic popularized by the hypebeast crowd (Justin Bieber’s Hawaiian shirts, anyone?) – and making way for tie dye to be elevated to the runway.
It seems the fashion world is in an on-again, off-again relationship with scrunchies. They boomed in late 80s via the cult classic Heathers, revisited us on 90210-era teeny boppers in the 90s, and even briefly reemerged on the hipster scene in the early 2000s.
