There’s a much-sited monologue in the Devil Wear’s Prada wherein Miranda Priestly roasts her sartorially naive and befuddled assistant, Andi, regarding the evolution of a certain shade of blue — cerulean — that’s probably the most eloquent summary of the lifecycle of a trend, from runway to bargain basement, in the history of film, or fashion, or both.
In fact, it’s almost hard not to think of this monologue when a new “we’d never wear that” trend rears it’s head, and before we can blink, we’re “wearing it” and wearing it proudly.
Just as Isabel Marant once paved the way for wedge sneakers (you know you had a pair), Balenciaga is now doing for the “ugly orthopedic chunky” sneaker (the raised eyebrow emoji best sums up our feelings on that one).
We’ve always prided ourselves on knowing what’s next, without being over-the-top-trendy. Like regret your purchase trendy. And we’re here to tell you first, Aviator Nation is the new leader when it comes to loungewear/streetwear trend.
The LA-based brand best explains itself as “rad clothes for rad people,” and is in perfect alignment with the B&C ethos. They’re serving up the right balance of retro-chic lounge basics that feel fresh and new — comfy too — from coordinating sets to velvet swimwear (sounds weird, swear it’s cool).
